Community Guidelines
Last updated: October 2025
WELCOME TO AMICII
Amicii exists to help people expand their social worlds through meaningful dining experiences at a wide range of thoughtful venues. Our community is built on mutual respect, genuine curiosity, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome when they show up to connect.
These Community Guidelines explain what we expect from everyone who participates in Amicii experiences – whether you're attending an experience, hosting one at your venue, or working with us. By creating an account and using our platform, you agree to follow these guidelines.
Our promise to you: If you follow these guidelines and treat others with respect, you can expect the same in return. If someone violates these guidelines, we will take action.
WHO THESE GUIDELINES APPLY TO
These Community Guidelines apply to everyone involved in Amicii experiences:
Users who attend dining experiences
Venue owners and staff who host experiences
Amicii team members
Anyone else present at an Amicii experience in any capacity
These guidelines cover behaviour:
At Amicii experiences (from arrival to departure)
At venue premises before, during, and after experiences
In any Amicii-related spaces (including our platform messaging)
In online spaces where you interact with other Amicii community members (even on other platforms like social media)
CORE VALUES
Everything in these guidelines flows from four core values:
1. RESPECT FOR ALL
Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their age, background, appearance, beliefs, or identity.
2. SAFETY FIRST
Everyone should feel physically and emotionally safe at every Amicii experience.
3. GENUINE CONNECTION
We're here to build authentic relationships. Commercial solicitation, aggressive advances, and inauthentic behaviour undermine this purpose.
4. VENUE PARTNERSHIP
Venues are our partners in creating community. We respect their spaces, staff, and house rules.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
When you participate in Amicii experiences, we expect you to:
BE RESPECTFUL & INCLUSIVE
Do:
Treat everyone with courtesy and kindness
Use people's preferred names and pronouns
Welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities
Listen actively when others are speaking
Be open to different perspectives and experiences
Respect personal boundaries and social cues
Don't:
Make assumptions about people based on appearance, age, or background
Interrupt or talk over others repeatedly
Dismiss or belittle someone's experiences or opinions
Use language that excludes or marginalises others
BE PRESENT & ENGAGED
Do:
Show up on time (or communicate if you're running late)
Engage genuinely with the people at your table
Put your phone away during the experience (occasional photos are fine)
Participate in group conversations, not just one-on-one chats
Make space for quieter people to contribute
Don't:
Spend the experience on your phone or laptop
Dominate the conversation without letting others speak
Have extended private conversations that exclude others
Arrive intoxicated or under the influence of drugs
Leave early without communicating (emergencies excepted)
RESPECT VENUE SPACES & STAFF
Do:
Follow the venue's house rules and staff instructions
Treat venue staff with courtesy and patience
Tip appropriately for good service (tipping is optional but appreciated in Australia)
Take any rubbish and other belongings with you
Respect the venue's property and atmosphere
Don't:
Be rude, dismissive, or demanding to venue staff
Damage venue property or furnishings
Remove items from the venue without permission
Disrupt other diners or venue operations
Refuse to follow reasonable venue policies
KEEP IT AUTHENTIC
Do:
Show up as your genuine self
Be honest in your profile and interactions
Share real interests and experiences
Ask questions out of genuine curiosity
Don't:
Misrepresent yourself in your profile or at experiences
Use Amicii primarily to sell products or services
Network aggressively or treat experiences as business development
Collect business cards or contact information without genuine mutual interest
RESPECT BOUNDARIES
Do:
Ask before taking photos that include other people
Accept "no" gracefully if someone declines to exchange contact information
Respect people's privacy and personal space
Read social cues and adjust your behaviour accordingly
Keep conversations appropriate for a shared dining setting
Don't:
Pressure anyone to share personal information they're uncomfortable sharing
Continue romantic or physical advances after someone has said no or shown disinterest
Share photos of others on social media without their explicit permission
Ask intrusive personal questions
Make others feel obligated to continue contact after the experience
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR
The following behaviours are never acceptable and will result in immediate action, including potential removal from the platform:
HARASSMENT & DISCRIMINATION
This includes:
Offensive comments about someone's gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or any other protected characteristic
Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following (online or in person)
Unwanted sexual attention or advances
Sustained disruption of conversations or experiences
Taking or sharing photos of others without consent
Unwelcome physical contact of any kind
Continued interaction after someone has asked you to stop
Pattern of microaggressions or "subtle" discriminatory behaviour
Remember: Impact matters more than intent. If someone tells you your behaviour made them uncomfortable, apologise and change your behaviour—don't argue about your intentions.
SEXUAL MISCONDUCT
This includes:
Any form of sexual harassment
Unwanted sexual advances, propositions, or pressure
Sexual comments, jokes, or innuendo that make others uncomfortable
Unwanted touching, hugging, kissing, or other physical contact
Sharing sexually explicit content or images
Any sexual behaviour without clear, enthusiastic, ongoing consent
Amicii is not a dating platform. While some people may develop romantic connections naturally, aggressive romantic or sexual behaviour is prohibited. If you're interested in someone, exchange contact information respectfully and pursue any romantic interest outside of Amicii experiences.
THREATENING OR VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR
This includes:
Threats of violence or harm (physical, emotional, financial, or reputational)
Actual violence or physical aggression
Threatening language or gestures
Behaviour that makes others fear for their safety
Bringing weapons of any kind to experiences
Deliberately creating unsafe conditions
INTOXICATION & SUBSTANCE USE
This includes:
Arriving at an experience already intoxicated
Excessive alcohol consumption during the experience that affects your behaviour
Using illegal drugs before or during experiences
Encouraging or pressuring others to drink excessively
Driving or attempting to drive while intoxicated
Note: While alcohol is served at most Amicii experiences, we expect responsible consumption. Venue staff reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated.
COMMERCIAL EXPLOITATION
This includes:
Using Amicii primarily for business networking or sales
Aggressive recruitment (MLM, insurance, real estate, etc.)
Repeated attempts to sell products or services to other attendees
Using Amicii to build email lists or contact databases
Promoting your business instead of engaging socially
Requesting that others join business opportunities or investment schemes
Clarification: Discussing what you do for work is natural and welcome. Treating Amicii experiences as sales opportunities is not.
DISHONESTY & MISREPRESENTATION
This includes:
Creating fake profiles or using false identities
Significantly misrepresenting yourself in your profile
Lying about your intentions for attending experiences
Using someone else's photos or information
Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
Attempting to bypass our booking or payment systems
PRIVACY VIOLATIONS
This includes:
Sharing other people's contact information without permission
Posting photos or videos of others without explicit consent
Sharing details about other attendees on social media without permission
Recording audio or video at experiences without everyone's consent
Using information learned at experiences for commercial purposes
Doxxing or publicly sharing someone's private information
VENUE & PLATFORM MISUSE
This includes:
No-showing without cancelling (violates our 48-hour cancellation policy)
Repeatedly booking and cancelling at the last minute
Circumventing the platform to book directly (avoiding platform fees)
Attempting to damage venue property or reputation
Leaving false or malicious reviews
Attempting to hack, scrape, or misuse our platform
Violating venue house rules or local laws
SPECIAL NOTE: ONLINE HARASSMENT
These Community Guidelines apply to your behaviour everywhere you interact with Amicii community members—including on other platforms.
If you harass, threaten, or abuse someone you met through Amicii on other platforms (social media, messaging apps, etc.), this is a violation of our Community Guidelines and may result in your removal from Amicii.
Examples:
Sending unwanted messages after someone declined to exchange contact information
Harassing someone on Instagram after they blocked you on our platform
Sharing someone's private information on social media
Creating fake accounts to continue contact after being blocked
Your Amicii membership ends where someone's boundaries begin, regardless of the platform.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE OR WITNESS A VIOLATION
We take every report seriously and investigate all claims of guideline violations. Your report helps keep our community safe.
HOW TO REPORT
During an experience:
Speak to venue staff immediately if you need immediate safety assistance
If you feel comfortable, politely but firmly tell the person their behaviour is unacceptable and ask them to stop
Email us at friends@amicii.io as soon as possible with details
After an experience:
Email friends@amicii.io with details of what happened
Use our in-platform reporting feature (if available)
Include the experience date, venue name, and any relevant details
For serious safety concerns:
Call 000 (emergency services) if you're in immediate danger
Contact venue staff for immediate on-site assistance
Then report to us so we can take appropriate action
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR REPORT
Help us understand what happened by including:
When: Date and time of the incident
Where: Which experience/venue
Who: Who was involved (names if you know them)
What: Description of what happened
Impact: How it affected you or others
Evidence: Screenshots, photos, or witness information (if available)
Remember: You don't need "proof" to report. We will investigate based on your description.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU REPORT
We acknowledge your report within 24 hours
We investigate by reviewing evidence and (when appropriate) speaking to involved parties
We take action based on the severity and circumstances
We follow up to let you know the outcome (within privacy constraints)
We will:
Take your report seriously
Treat it confidentially
Investigate fairly and thoroughly
Act on substantiated violations
Support you through the process
We will not:

PRIVACY & CONFIDENTIALITY
We treat all reports confidentially and only share information:
With the people who need to know to investigate and resolve the issue
When legally required (such as for serious criminal matters)
With your explicit permission
We will never:
Share reporter identities publicly
Publish details of individual cases
Retaliate against good-faith reporters
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS
We respond to violations based on their severity, frequency, and impact. Our actions are designed to protect our community while being fair to everyone involved.

Examples: Violence, serious threats, sexual assault, severe harassment, stalking
Typical response:
Immediate removal from experience and platform

Possible legal action
VENUE VIOLATIONS
Venue partners who violate these guidelines (through staff behaviour or unsafe conditions) may face:
Warning and required corrective action
Temporary suspension from platform
Permanent removal from partnerships
Report to licensing authorities if serious safety violations
FALSE REPORTS
We take all reports seriously, which means we also take false reports seriously.
Making a false report is itself a violation of our Community Guidelines. If we determine that you made a deliberately false or malicious report, you may face:
Warning
Suspension
Permanent removal
However: A report is not "false" just because we can't verify it or if it's based on a misunderstanding. We understand that people may interpret situations differently. We only consider reports "false" when there's clear evidence of deliberate dishonesty.
If you report in good faith, you will never be penalised—even if we can't verify the incident.
APPEALS PROCESS
If you believe we made an error in applying these guidelines to your situation, you have the right to appeal.
HOW TO APPEAL
Email friends@amicii.io with "Appeal" in the subject line
Include your account details and the decision you're appealing
Explain why you believe the decision was incorrect
Provide any additional evidence or context
APPEAL TIMELINE
We will review your appeal within 7 business days
We will consider new evidence and alternative perspectives
We will respond with our final decision
Our final decision is binding
WHAT WE CONSIDER
Was our investigation thorough and fair?
Is there new evidence we didn't have before?
Were there mitigating circumstances we didn't know about?
Did we apply our guidelines consistently?
WHAT WE DON'T RECONSIDER
Severity of appropriate penalties
Decisions based on clear evidence
Multiple violations
Safety-based removals
Note: Serious violations (violence, severe harassment, serious threats) are typically not eligible for appeal.
UPDATES TO THESE GUIDELINES
We may update these Community Guidelines as our community grows and we learn what works best.
HOW WE UPDATE
We will notify you of significant changes via email
The "Last Updated" date at the top will change
Your continued use means you accept the updated guidelines
WHAT STAYS THE SAME
Our core values of respect, safety, genuine connection, and venue partnership will never change. Updates will only clarify how we apply these values or address new situations as they arise.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THESE GUIDELINES
"What if I made a mistake?"
We all make mistakes. If you realise you've violated these guidelines:
Apologise sincerely
Change your behaviour immediately
Learn from the experience
If it's a first-time minor violation and you take responsibility, we'll likely just provide guidance for the future.
"What if someone misunderstood me?"
Intent matters, but impact matters more. If someone tells you that you made them uncomfortable:
Don't argue about your intentions
Apologise for the impact
Adjust your behaviour
Move forward respectfully
"What if I'm not sure if something counts as a violation?"
When in doubt, err on the side of respect and kindness. If you're wondering whether something is okay, it's often better not to do it.
You can also email friends@amicii.io to ask about specific situations (no names needed).
"What if someone is breaking guidelines but I don't want to report them?"
You're never required to report, but reporting helps keep everyone safe. Even if you don't want the person punished, your report helps us identify patterns and educate people about our expectations.
You can also report anonymously if you prefer.
"What if I feel uncomfortable but I'm not sure why?"
Trust your instincts. You don't need to identify a specific guideline violation to let us know something felt wrong. Describe what happened and how it made you feel—we'll investigate from there.
A FINAL WORD
These guidelines might seem long, but they boil down to something simple: Be kind. Be respectful. Be genuine.
If you treat others the way you want to be treated, you're already following our Community Guidelines.
We created Amicii because we believe in the power of human connection. When you show up to an experience, you're not just getting a meal - you're contributing to a community that values authentic relationships, meaningful conversation, and mutual respect.
Thank you for being part of Amicii. We can't wait to see the connections you create.
